LIVE REVIEW - The Black Dahlia Murder, Ingested & Karybdis - The Underworld, London - 11.4.2019

In the wake of the Black Dahlia Murder uk tour, its been evidently one of the most chaotic and mayhem filled packages to hit the UK so far. The Underworld in camden welcomed not just Black Dahlia Murder but Mancunian slammers Ingested and underground heavyweights Karybis for a sold out show.

Melodic Death Metalers Karybis opened up tonights proceedings. It didn’t take long to see the floor begin to fill as the room is filled with a sea of black and heads bobbing to their melodic yet brutalising riffs. Front man Rich O’donnell made his vocals look like child’s play seemingly not breaking a sweat in this humid room. The ending of their set seemed bittersweet as they left the crowd itching for more yet what we were about to see was something you always expect from a band like Ingested.

Ingested for me are one of the best death metal units to come out of the UK, there is no rest bite when it comes to these guys the energy they produce just ignights everyone in the room with an eruption of bodies being thrust in every direction, being drenched in other people’s sweat as they continue to hold their own in a relentless pit. Front man Jay Evans has the crowd in the palm of his hand instructing mosh pits, fist pumping and a wild circle pit around the pillar in the middle of the room. Its unmistakably clear why these guys are at the level they are, years of relentless touring around the globe has made such a tight band on stage.

A welcome addition to their set was a new song ‘Mouth Of The Abyss’ this is some situations could cause a “flat” moment where the crowd don’t really know what to do. However, this is not the case for Ingested, the new song slid nicely into their set with the crowd acting like it was a fan favourite continuing reeking hell in the pit. Yet again, it was another bittersweet moment when their set came to an end as it truly felt like they had headlined the venue with the show.

It was going to be tough to beat what Ingested just brought to the table but if anyone could bring just a bit more its definetly the Black Dahlia Murder.

Opening tonight with four huge songs which could easily of caused a riot, its great to see how well received the music from 2017’s Nightbringers as the crowd below continue to cause a storm whilst screaming back the lyrics to the guys on stage.

Front man Trevor Strnad's vocals are blood curdling as he jumps around the stage sweat dripping everywhere, actually sweat dripping off everyone as the heat within the cramped venue is through the roof. Brian Eschbach joking that they're not playing an encore as there is oxygen up there whilst pointing above his head. Im glad it wasn’t just me feeling the heat!

An unexpected, yet magical moment in metal was Ingested frontman Jay Evans joining the band on stage during ‘What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse’ before launching himself into the crowd getting carried like a king above ones head.

The Black Dahlia Murder prove that there is no stopping these guys, they continue to go from strength to strength and they continue to produce fantastic music and sell out shows all over the world.

London was one hell of a show from all three bands giving us all a night to remember and maybe a few scars.
