Life Update 7 - April!

Its crazy and kind of scary to think that we’re entering the fourth month of 2019, 1/3 of of the year is done and dusted. Time really does fly when you’re having fun!

Late march saw some super exciting tour announcements, 10 of them to be precise and sweeping nicely across many genres of metal. Black Tongue bring The Second Death tour to the uk late July early August in support of their newest release Nadir. August Burns Red make their return to the UK again! this time however, their celebrating the 10th anniversary of Constellations playing the album in whole this November.

Two of my favourite announcements were Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons who will be hitting every corner of the UK this October and November. Secondly is MACHINE FUCKING HEAD, MACHINE FUCKING HEAD. This was a huge announcement as they’re coming to the UK and Europe for the 25th anniversary tour for Burn My Eyes, featuring the album being played in its entirety but also with the original guitarist and drummer who will be part of the celebrations. London and Paris have already sold out but remaining dates still have tickets available.

Neck Deep play a one off warm up show at The Concorde 2 in Brighton getting them ready for their set at Groezrock. Bad Wolves are also making their return to our shores which is insane news and the bonus is the addition of a few headline dates two of which are here in the UK London and Manchester are the lucky cities of choice!

Kentucky lads Knocked Loose continue to carry the flag for hardcore with a European tour set for May and June with a headline show at Islington Academy which coincide with their appearances at Slam Dunk Festival. Which seems like a one off date so far, death metal icons Possessed will be heading to the Underworld in London this June for a night not to be missed by anyone.

Two announcements left, firstly all the way from down under is Make Them Suffer, id highly recommend anyone to see these guys and girl live their incredible live and produce phenomal music. Lastly is Rivers Of Nihl, these guys are adventuring on their first ever headline Euro tour and I cant contain my excitement for this one, I for sure will be at the Dome to catch this show!

Gig wise, April is going to be fairly busy flitting between various areas of the south of England for shows. The 5th of April sees an album release show for Polar who are releasing new album Nova. the gig is being held at Casino in Guildford. Luckily for me Guildford is a neighbouring town and a 20 minute drive as I couldn’t miss this for anything! On a wild Thursday night, I adventure into London for The Black Dahlia Murder and Ingested at the Underworld on the 11th.

Not wasting anytime, I have a whole family adventure to Bournemouth to go see Alfie Boe at the BIC on the 13th of April, I’m super excited about this one, every time I’ve seen him, he’s always great and his newest album is killer! The 15th sees another wild trip to the Underworld for Suffocation and Belphegor! this is one show that you shouldn’t miss! these two bands in such a small venue its going to be mayhem!

Last but not least is a cheeky pop punk show in the sunny town of Brighton to see Neck Deep as they warm up for their set at Groezrock.

If I’m honest, there is barely any albums I’m really excited for. However, the one I am really ready to hear is Polar as they finally release Nova on April 5th. If its anything like the singles the album will be insane! The last album I’m looking forward to is After The Burial, they return with new album Evergreen on the 19th. There are a few other albums coming out that I will check out. However there not albums that id be rushing out to buy.

Personally this month is going to be busy! 3 birthdays in the space of two weeks. Firstly my dad turns 56 on the 1st of the month. I’m super lucky to have my dad he opened me up to a whole world of music which simultaneously branched into other areas of metal. He’s taken me to some unbelievable shows and also kept me company at shows of bands he isn’t really a fan of but never complained once! For his birthday we’re going to Bletchly Park where all the code breaking and enigma machine was during WW2.

The second birthday is my girlfriends. Everyday is an adventure with her around, go to the shops..adventure. Go to another country adventure there is never a dull moment with her!

The final birthday is Clares God Daughter who turns the big age of 1, her smile is contagious there is no chance of ever being in a bad mood whilst she’s around she’s a funny little human.

The last thing is that ill be continuing my back piece continues, ill be spending the day laying on my front in agony getting ink punched into my skin…always fun and a bit closer to being finished!

Check back next month for my may update for some more annoucements and insane gigs which ill be going to!
